So, I had my scratch test on Wednesday, and I guess I passed with flying colors...I'm not allergic to anything! So I had to suffer for 3 days to find out that I'm not allergic to any common allergens. I guess you could look at the bright side and say that at least now I know for sure. But I prefer to look at the dark side and just say that it really sucked going through all that for nothing.
Here are my arms as I waited to see if I had any reactions. All the dots are where they pushed sharp things into my skin with the oils of the allergens.
Right after the doctor gave me the go-ahead I gulped down one of my pills. I told him that if I took the pills after a reaction started, that it would get worse before it got better. He didn't believe me. So I took pictures on the drive home to shove them in his face next time!
Anyhoo, the doctor confirmed what we basically knew, I have auto-immune urticaria. I have anti-bodies that are attacking my thyroid (kinda normal, I just have more than most people). But he said that the anti-bodies are dumb, and sometimes they attack the skin instead of the thyroid. Hence the hives. He said 50% of people have them gone by 11 months. Mine started in Feb, so let's hope I'm in that 50%!!!!
